MoCheck is a web based application designed to work in all modern web browsers. You will need:

• An account with MoCheck.co.uk — get an account today
• Some credit on your account — top up your credit now
• A desktop/laptop computer (PC or Mac) with an internet connection
and/or
• A modern mobile smartphone or tablet
• A live, working internet connection (Wi-Fi/3g/4g)

If you want to use MoCheck you need to have set up an account first. If you are working for a business customer of MoCheck but you are not the account holder, your manager can set up a login for you.

Pay-as-you-go purchases are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. We will remind you in advance of your expiry date.

If you’ve forgotten you password, simply press the “Forgot password” button on the login page and enter your email address, and we'll send you a reminder.

If you have a team of people doing vehicle checks, we recommend that you set up an individual user account for each person. This lets your colleagues/employees log in with their own username and password. With their own login, each person is accountable for their own vehicle reports.

You can control each user's access to features by giving them different permission levels - for example you may want to limit account functions to a manager, but still allow your employees to fill in reports. You can also let a team leader manage reports for others, or limit who signs off reports. You can even let a a client or a delivery driver carry out vehicle checks, and sign off the reports yourself.

Create as many user accounts as you need — there's no extra charge. If an employee leaves your company, simply delete their account — you can still review their old reports afterwards. MoCheck is flexible enough for any type or size of business, no matter how many staff you have.

MoCheck has been tested out on a wide range of computers, browsers, smartphones and tablets, so if your system and device are up to date, you should have instant access. You can use MoCheck on your desktop PC, but if you're out checking vehicles, you'll be better with a smart phone or tablet running on iOS, Android or Windows - it needs a camera, a web browser (Safari/Chrome/Internet Explorer/Firefox) and an internet connection.

As a minimum we recommend the following:

Check your system:

Desktop/laptop	Look in your computer's  Control Panel to check your OS
web browser	Click on the  Help or About menu to see your browser version
Mobile or tablet	tap on the  Settings icon and select About

If needed, update your mobile, tablet or computer system as required – consult your manufacturer or software vendor for help with this

Blackberry: On devices with small “square” screens such as older style Blackberry handsets, MoCheck will work – but we found the screens are just too small for comfortable use. We therefore recommend you do not use this type of handset.

You can access MoCheck through the web browser on your smartphone or tablet.

But to get into MoCheck quickly, add a MoCheck icon to your mobile screen. It's easy!

Some users may get a black screen when they try to take a photo on an iPhone or iPad. This is a known issue on Apple devices since the iOS 11 update. It affects users who have added a MoCheck icon to their home screen.

Quick fix:

Hold your finger down on the MoCheck icon on your iPhone/iPad screen until it starts wobbling
   Tap the small cross to delete it

Then open Safari web browser, go to the MoCheck website and re-add it to your homescreen again.

If you're recently added MoCheck to your homescreen, you may have to give it permission to access your mobile phone photos album before you can upload photos.

To do this on an iPhone:

Tap on the Settings icon on the homescreen
Select Privacy
Select Camera
    Enable MoCheck in the list of apps

 

Look at the display at the top of your phone to check your mobile signal. If you have poor reception, this can make using MoCheck very slow — especially when you upload photos. Ideally you should have a strong wi-fi signal, or a strong 3G mobile signal.

	If your business has a wi-fi hub, this symbol shows you are connected.
	If you see 4 or 5 bars or dots, this means you have a good mobile phone signal. If it's below 3, photos will be slow to upload
4G	If you are using a phone network signal, you need to see the 3G or 4G symbol for MoCheck to work fully.
GPRS E   º	If you see “GPRS”, a small circle or a letter “E” this means your mobile signal is weak and picture uploading probably won't work.

Reception Tips

The further from a wi-fi hub you go, the weaker the signal. If you have problems using MoCheck when you're out in a car park or forecourt where the wi-fi signal is weak, sometimes it's better to turn off your phone's wi-fi and use your 3G/4G mobile network signal instead. Experiment a bit to find out what works best for you.

MoCheck recommends that you install a wi-fi boosting system in your business. They are inexpensive and very easy to install, and can improve your wi-fi signal around your premises. Using wi-fi will also help to reduce your mobile data charges.

 Remember, if your wi-fi signal is poor, you can add photos to a report later — find out how.

If the features on MoCheck seem to be slow to respond there are a few things you should check:

• Your problem may just be a poor mobile signal – find out how to fix Signal Problems
• If you have lots of other apps running on your mobile or tablet at the same time, this can use up memory and slow your device down, especially if you have an older device. Shut down other apps to free up memory. If this doesn't work, try restarting or resetting your phone.

When you open MoCheck, you may see a message "We're having trouble with this site's security certificate. This is a problem on Windows mobile, caused by the clock being set to the wrong time. It's easy to fix:

• open the  Settings
• tap on  Date & time and set the correct time

You can be be assured that MoCheck is a secure site.

For convenience and assurance, completed reports are provided as PDF documents. You can download these files for your records, to print, or to email to customers and colleagues. They are a complete record of vehicle condition. PDF files will open on any modern desktop computer, smartphone or tablet. Normally the software is already included on your system, but if you can't open the file, you just need to download a free software or app.

Desktop PC/Mac:	Adobe Reader
iPhone/iPad: PDFs open automatically in Safari browser. you can also use iBooks to store your PDFs offline.	Get iBooks

It's really simple – just type the registration into the lookup box on your dashboard and we will look up the DVLA details for you. What's more, we won't even charge you for this. If the vehicle is already on your inventory, we'll get the details back for you, including any previous reports you may have saved for it.

New vehicles are sometimes delivered without registration plates. You can use the VIN number instead – it's usually found engraved on a small on the engine or on other parts around the car. Simply type this VIN number into the registration box on your dashboard and we'll get the detail for you.

There are two ways to look up a previous report:

From your dashboard:

1. type the car registration, VIN, make or model into the search box above the reports list
2. Mocheck will bring up a list of matching reports
3. Click/tap on the report you want to view. You can view each completed report on-screen or download it as a PDF, print it or email it to a client.

From your vehicle inventory:

1. type the car registration, VIN, make or model into the search box at the top
2. Mocheck will bring up a list of matching vehicles
3. Click/tap on the vehicle you want to view
4. In the vehicle record you can see a list of reports associated with this vehicle – click/tap to select a report.

Remember – once a report has been signed off it can't be changed. Always sign off a report when you're finished for maximum assurance.

If you've made a mistake, or missed a scratch or a dent, you can make still changes to a report – but only if it is still open. Once a report has been signed off it can't be changed.

• When you've filled out a vehicle report you can leave it open for later changes by pressing the Save & Exit button (or simply go back to your dashboard). This means that you can still add or remove a damage note or a photo.
• If you press the Sign Off button, this will securely lock down the report so that no further changes can be made. Before you sign off a report, you will be shown a quick summary to make sure you've got everything covered.

Always sign off a report as soon as you've finished — this is your secure record of the checks you have made and it provides assurance both to you and to your customers. In the event of a dispute, you have a reliable record of the checks you performed, backed up with time & date-stamped photos.

At the moment MoCheck only offers condition reports for cars, but we have exciting plans to roll out new checking tools for motorbikes and vans in the near future. We will let you know when this is available.

MoCheck lets you upload photographs of vehicles and vehicle damage straight from your mobile phone or tablet. If you experience problems uploading photos, here are a few things to check:

	Check your mobile or wi-fi signal – if you have poor reception, this can make uploading photos very slow. See signal problems for tips on how to deal with this
	Does your phone or tablet take HD photos? Some newer devices offer high-megapixel photos, which is great for artistic shots but the files may be too big for uploading. If your device settings allow it, try to set your camera to take lower quality photos, otherwise try using a different mobile which takes lower-quality pictures.
	Is your mobile/tablet system software up to date? Some older versions do not support file uploads – find out more about the minimum requirements for MoCheck. If in doubt, update your phone/tablet to the latest system.

Photo upload times depend on a number of factors such as the resolution of your device's camera, the amount of detail in the images you take, your type of internet connection and speed. A WiFi connection will generally be faster than a mobile connection. During testing however, we have seen upload times on an iPhone 5, on a 3g connection, in under 10 seconds.

Yes - as long as you haven't signed off the report.

There may be times when you are unable to upload a photo. Usually, the problem is down to reception problems outdoors, so we've built in a handy work-around for this situation. Here's what to do:

• Once a photo has been uploaded you can safely delete it from your phone.
• When you've finished, remember to click the Sign Off  button.

If you don't have access to a smartphone or tablet, you can use a digital camera instead, but we don't recommend this. You should complete each vehicle report as described above, and then you will need to do the following:

• Plug your camera into your computer with a USB cable (or similar connector)
• Copy the photos onto your computer hard drive
• Open the vehicle report on your computer web browser
• Click each damage item and upload the relevant photo
• When you've finished, remember to click the  Sign Off  button.

However, there are several problems:

• plugging in a camera and copying photos is quite fiddly and can take a lot of time
• most digital cameras take very high resolution photos (high megapixels) which are suitable for printing. You must change your camera settings to lower quality before you take photos, or they will be too big for MoCheck uploads.

MoCheck strongly recommends that you use a smartphone or tablet to complete vehicle reports.
